Alejandro has been photographing the world for more than 35 years. He graduated in Architecture in 1986, having studied also photography at Urbino (Italy). After attending the Kunstgewerbeschule School of Arts in Basel Switzerland. In 1977 he began working as a freelancer for several newspapers and photography agencies in Argentina as Noticias Argentinas, Editorial Abril, La Opinion, covering a wide range of events from the news, people, sports events to the Falkland-Malvinas War in 1982, and later moves to Europe.
He is the founder of apspressimage photo agency based in Italy, now entering its 10th year of activity. Here on this website, it is possible to see images of the historical archive of the author (comprising war, sport, politics), as well as his latest work “In a world gone mad” over digital photography.
Alejandro’s assorted kit also includes a 60-year-old Hasselblad camera, used alongside his digital ones in order to be able to have the right tool to capture each different moment.
Before the FIFA World Cup 86, Alex covered a multitude of sporting disciplines; 1878-1986 FIFA World Cup soccer matches, Davis Cup in Argentina, Buenos Aires Open Tennis Cup, Rugby Union Championship World Cup 1987. Within the last five years; Polo World Cup, Samsung Diamond League, Young Winter Olympic Games FIS Ski Jumping World Cup Tournament, FIG Gymnastics World Cup, FINA World Aquatic Championships 2013 and FISA Rowing Cup.
IIn 2016 Sala is selected as a participant of the “Portfolio Review” for Magnum Photos at Visa Pour l’Image (France).
In 2014 he produced a book called Patagonia documenting life along Austral Patagonia. Two years later hehe receives the “Nation Branding” for his book Patagonia, the south of the world when the world finished, from the Argentinian Government. The content of the book was exhibited in Bassano
Biennial Exhibition Photography 2017 and France (30e Rencontres Photographiques & Festival du Film Court).
In late 2011 "Approach to Composition " and the interpretation of Stephan Shore's work, practices which emerged during the study of photography in Italy and Switzerland in the 1970s and early 1980s.
Alejandro Sala was raised in Italy and Switzerland. His bakground as architect also influence his career as an artist to use color, light, and material to produce exceptional works. His piece of arts are not pictures but a complex use of light.
